One of the special areas of focus for CG has been motors for hazardous area applications. The operation scenarios and the regulatory requirements are both complex and constantly evolving with the introduction of new European and Indian standards. CG ensures that all its products comply fully with these ever-changing regulations.

Flameproof Induction Motors (Ex 'd' for ZONE-I, II - Gas Group IIA, IIB)

Flameproof enclosures are designed acknowledging the likelihood of internal explosion. These motors are built to withstand such explosions without external damage, preventing ignition of the surrounding hazardous atmosphere. "Flameproof" is synonymous with "Explosion Proof" in the USA and "Type 'd' Protection" in Europe.

Construction

The stator frame uses a barrel-type construction from thick fabricated steel to endure internal pressures. Stringent pressure testing ensures welding integrity. Machining ensures concentricity of the stator bore for minimal vibration and optimal heat transfer. Frame sizes 630 & 710 adopt TETV construction, with double-expanded tubes in thick end plates to resist leakage during an explosion.
