CG started manufacturing of Vacuum Interrupters at Aurangabad, India in 1985–86 in technical collaboration with the then Westinghouse Electric, USA, becoming pioneers in vacuum technology in India.

After completion of the collaboration period, CG extended the product range up to 72.5 kV with continuous design upgrades through in-house R&D, offering Vacuum Interrupters for various applications.

In 2014–2015, the manufacturing capacity was increased to over 150,000 Vacuum Interrupters per year, making CG the largest Vacuum Interrupter manufacturer in India.

Today, more than 1.5 million CG Vacuum Interrupters are in service across the globe.
